UN Issues Conference: Countdown to 2020
Invitation Only
Major political and mobilization moments for the international climate change community will take place in 2018 and 2020, including the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Special Report on 1.5° C, Facilitative Dialogue, Global Stocktake, and revisions to Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). These moments will be vital to keeping the Paris Agreement and United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change process on track, and to maintaining and building climate action momentum on critical pathways to limiting global warming to 1.5° C.
At the Stanley Center’s 48th annual UN Issues Conference, “Countdown to 2020,” participants will convene to discuss what must be done ahead of these important moments and the opportunities for multilateral and multistakeholder collaboration. A special focus will be given to the critical pre-2020 climate actions which are vital to achieving the 1.5° C goal, including the transition to renewable energy and the development of sustainable city infrastructure.
