Unleashing Ambition: How Nonstate and Subnational Actors Can Work With Countries to Step Up Ambition After COP23

On behalf of Galvanizing the Groundswell of Climate Actions, the Stanley Center will co-host a breakfast discussion with Oxford University, the World Resources Institute, and World Wildlife Foundation on the topic of “Unleashing Ambition: How Nonstate and Subnational Actors Can Work With Countries to Step Up Ambition after COP23.” Participants in this discussion will include leading subnational and private sector coalitions, civil society representatives, and Parties.
Topics covered in this discussion will include:
- Opportunities for nonstate and subnational actors to collaborate with Parties to identify ways to raise ambition.
- Channels that nonstate and subnational actors can use to support raising national ambition.
- Messages that are emerging and how Parties and state actors can align and sequence those messages to build momentum and enhance ambition by 2020.
