Lessons for and from Effective Offices of Violence Prevention

Invitation Only; Registration Required

In this Peace in Our Cities (PiOC) member webinar, researchers from PiOC and the Vera Institute of Justice unpack lessons from two recent research papers on offices of violence prevention (OVPs). PiOC researchers share observations from case studies and visits to Edmonton, Bristol, Oakland, Cali, and Rosario, with specific policy implications outlined for violence prevention entities and efforts. These include, for example: balancing political support and autonomy, improving “whole-of-city” coordination, and exploring methods for budget sustainability. The Vera Institute of Justice shares findings from their research on Offices of Violence Prevention in the United States, which contributed to Peace in Our Cities’ own research paper.

The same webinar was offered in Spanish and Portuguese to PiOC members on March 28, 2024.
