Policy Dialogue on Just Energy Transitions
Invitation Only
Despite strong and ambitious commitments to transition away from fossil fuels, many economies remain highly dependent on oil and gas and lack clear pathways to realize their ambitions without compromising their development goals and economic stability, risking social and political disruption. Evidence indicates, however, that there are multiple strategies that can support just, and stable, energy transitions. The Stanley Center, in partnership with Salzburg Global Seminar and Climate Strategies, will convene diverse experts and decision-makers from select countries, sectors and the multilateral system, for an open discussion of the challenges and opportunities, and exploration of evidence-based policies and approaches to enable effective energy transitions. The program will build national capacity and collective confidence in just energy transition plans, further propelling the global phase down of fossil fuels ahead of key international meetings like the G20 and COP29. It will lay the foundations for a collaborative international network of policymakers, advisors and experts to provide ongoing support to those leading on just transitions.
