Salon Dinner: Advancing Health, Equity, and Climate Action in the Just Transition Conversation

Invitation Only

The primary objective of this gathering is to broaden the scope of dialogue and collaboration on the intersection of health, human rights, and climate action. By incorporating perspectives from the climate and environmental justice (EJ) community, we seek to deepen our understanding of the complexities surrounding the Just Transition conversation. This event builds upon the success and insights garnered from the “Health and Equity in a Green Transition” workshop organized on the sidelines of Harvard Climate Week in May 2023, where the discussion highlighted the critical need to integrate health and human rights considerations into conversations surrounding the green transition, particularly around green technologies as solutions to the current fossil fuel-driven climate crisis. However, it also underscored the importance of incorporating insights from the wider environmental justice and climate community to address the multifaceted challenges posed by climate change and the transition to renewable energy sources.

Our intention with the proposed gathering is to create an informal space and focus on:

  • Intersectionality: Explore the interconnectedness of health, human rights, and climate change within the context of a just transition.
  • Policy Implications: Identify actionable strategies for policymakers to ensure green technology deployment promotes equity and social justice.
  • Global Perspectives: Incorporate diverse perspectives from stakeholders worldwide to address the global implications of transitioning to a sustainable energy paradigm.
