Matching Resources to Ambition: Increasing Financing for City-Led Interventions to Reduce Urban Violence

Registration Required

Hosted by Peace in Our Cities (PiOC), this interactive roundtable seeks to address the gap between globally-agreed ambitions to reduce urban violence and the persistent shortcomings in funding for effective city-led interventions. The discussion focuses on what philanthropies and the private sector have done to date, and can do in the future, to mobilize investments to secure peaceful cities. The event shares experiences from city leaders, philanthropies, and private sector representatives, aiming to articulate funding priorities, identify common ground between investors and city actors, and unpack the wide-range of benefits from reductions in urban violence.

The discussion is part of an ongoing series of events with different stakeholders exploring the ways to increase financing for evidence-informed, city-led interventions to reduce urban violence. It builds on an initial discussion with philanthropic actors in the peace and security sector at which the potential of unique private-public partnerships was highlighted as an area of promising impact.
