Jai-Ayla Sutherland is program officer for mass violence and atrocities at the Stanley Center for Peace and Security, where she supports efforts to build resilience to the worst kinds of violence by working with representatives from government, civil society, and the private sector to build networks and promote evidence-based prevention strategies. Sutherland has worked in North and South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia, and has experience conducting research on the roots of violent conflict in Africa and the Middle East and analyzing structural needs and policy approaches to preventing mass atrocities. She has an MA in international security from the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver and a BA in international relations from the University of Southern California.
