Integrating Prevention and Building Resilience in a Challenging Political Environment
Invitation Only
The Auschwitz Institute for Peace and Reconciliation, the Stanley Center and the American University of Paris George and Irina Schaeffer Center for the Study of Genocide, Human Rights and Conflict Prevention, will host a symposium on “Integrating Prevention and Building Resilience in a Challenging Political Environment” in Paris, France, on November 12–16, 2019.
The symposium will provide an opportunity for alumni of the Raphael Lemkin Seminar for Genocide Prevention and other experts in the field to define how atrocity prevention actors can meaningfully respond to contemporary challenges and engage strategically to identify opportunities to reinforce the atrocity prevention and resilience agenda in challenging political environments. Symposium participants will join a collective of experts and panelists to discuss experiences and capacities related to four processes:
- Integrating global, regional, national, and local approaches to atrocity prevention;
- Integrating state, civil society, and private sector approaches to atrocity prevention;
- Integrating a gender lens, bringing the voices of women and LGBTI groups into atrocity prevention; and
- Integrating transitional justice into the toolbox for early prevention.
