Living Future Mural
The Stanley Center wants to know: what does sustainability look like to you?
This summer, artist Drew Etienne will work with other local artists to create a 2,000 square foot mural on the north side of the Stanley Center’s home, in the alley we share with MCSA.
Our Living Future Mural should reflect the values of the Stanley Center and our community in Muscatine. The theme and subject of the mural could represent the seven petals of the Living Building Challenge: Place, Water, Energy, Health + Happiness, Materials, Equity, Beauty + Inspiration… OR focus on any one of those petals… OR include other messages about local history, sustainability, climate action, or the environment.
Community involvement in creating our Living Future Mural is important to the Stanley Center as the mural should be something for everyone to enjoy. Through April 2024, the center accepted ideas from the community and received nearly two dozen entries! Drew and team will develop an initial concept from one or more of these ideas and work with the center to finalize it. Then, on June 28, the Stanley Center will welcome the community to take part in creating the mural with an Open House and Community Paint Day!
Thanks so much to those who submitted their ideas which could become a lasting part of a Living Future Mural!
