Strengthening the Global Clean Energy Perspective on Energy Security and Resilience
Invitation Only
The topic of energy security is an increasingly significant challenge for the climate and clean energy community. While the field has begun to form a point of view on how to engage with political economy and geopolitical conversations around energy security, there is a need to better integrate emerging analyses to strengthen clean energy perspectives and frames.
Climate Strategies and the Stanley Center are formulating a project to establish an initial set of “fundamentals” of energy security from a clean energy point of view. We aim to form a core group of technical experts from key countries and regions where energy security is of most salience, recognizing the circumstances of both Global North and South countries. The work of this project would include:
- Papers that consolidate existing research to address technical gaps relevant to the development of secure clean energy systems.
- Convening key clean energy experts actively engaged in energy security policy nationally and globally to build common and coordinated perspectives.
- Focusing on regions where energy security is a geopolitical priority, and a case for secure clean energy is needed.
- Strengthening the climate-energy perspective on energy security and resilience to contribute to current policy conversations.
This dinner will bring together people from the climate and clean energy field who are engaged in energy security conversations globally. The conversation will explore how the field is currently situated in relation to energy security, identify needs from various policy communities, and consider opportunities to strengthen the clean energy perspective in current and potential future policy outreach.
