November 27-28, 2017 | Milan, Italy | Mass Violence and Atrocities

Milan Forum for Parliamentary Action in Preventing Violent Extremism and Mass Atrocities

Invitation Only

Milan Plan of Action

Parliamentarians have a key role to play in adopting effective policies to marginalize and defeat the ideology of violent extremists and perpetrators of mass atrocities. Lawmakers can use strategies that isolate and diminish risks for such violence while promoting human rights, inclusion, democracy, justice and the Rule of Law, gender equality, and healthy civil societies.

The 39th Annual Forum of Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA), on the topic of “Preventing Violent Extremism and Mass Atrocities: The Role of Parliamentarians,” will be hosted by the Mayor of Milan. The forum receives institutional patronage of the Italian Parliament, the high patronage of the European Parliament, and it is organized by PGA in partnership with the Montreal Institute of Genocide and Human Rights Studies and the Stanley Center. This year’s forum includes an emphasis on bringing experts in countering/preventing violent extremism and atrocity prevention together to discuss with parliamentarians their role in addressing the root causes of extremism and atrocities.
