Identity-Based Mass Violence in Cities: Edited Volume – Midpoint Meeting
Invitation Only; Registration Required
For two years, the Violence, Inequality and Power Lab (VIP Lab, formerly Impact:Peace) at the Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice and the Stanley Center for Peace and Security have led an exploration of the concept of Identity-Based Mass Violence (IBMV) in urban contexts. As a next step, we are publishing an edited volume focused on articulating the conceptual case and offering practical guidance for investing in the prevention of identity-based mass violence at the city level.
This midpoint meeting will include volume authors and contributors; members of a reference group who have informed the conceptual development of the volume; and a group of data and evidence experts. In addition to data-focused discussion and workshopping the volume, attendees will also take part in a site visit that incorporates the themes of the volume and connects participants to the lived reality of identity-based violence in urban spaces.
