City Action for Peace—Report Launch and 5th Anniversary of the Peace in Our Cities Network

This event will bring together experts and practitioners for a roundtable discussion on the most pressing issues in the arena of urban violence, and where there are opportunities and entry points to connect the work of cities and local leaders with the multilateral system at large. The roundtable will be preceded by opening remarks from high-level representatives of our co-host Missions, and a presentation by Mr. Antonio Sampaio, author of the report Urbanization, Peace, and Security.

Since 2019, the Peace in Our Cities network has brought together city leaders and partners across the world to amplify their efforts in reducing urban violence, connecting them with resources and thought partners, creating peer-to-peer exchanges, and elevating their voices at the global stage. Since then, Peace in Our Cities members have realized impressive progress, including cities that have obtained upwards of 60 percent reduction in rates of violence.
