The Belém–Antalya Mechanism: Taking Stock Ahead of COP31
Invitation Only
International cooperation is essential to overcoming the barriers countries and communities face in pursuing a just transition. Ahead of COP31, discussions on developing the Belém–Antalya Mechanism (BAM) present an opportunity to turn commitments under the UNFCCC’s Just Transition Work Programme into practical support for implementation.
The Stanley Center for Peace and Security and Climate Action Network International will convene a two-hour virtual conversation to take stock of these discussions and consider emerging proposals for the mechanism’s design and operation. Civil society representatives and just transition experts will exchange perspectives on the negotiations, identify possible common ground, and explore questions that require further attention.
Building on an ongoing series of informal dialogues, the conversation will help shape priorities for an in-person strategy huddle in Antalya on November 7. It will also provide space to consider opportunities for collaboration during COP31.
