Time for Making Just Transition Happen
Invitation Only
COP30 offers an opportunity for the international community to take concrete, joint actions to advance a Just Transition. All countries are confronted with the social and economic challenges associated with an ambitious and resilient pathway to climate safety. The question governments, civil society, trade unions, and communities must solve is how they will address those challenges in a way that makes people happier, their lives more dignified, and their countries more prosperous. Just Transition provides an ideal framework for accomplishing this, at the local and national levels, where just can be defined in that specific context. Nonetheless, no country is a silo, and only international cooperation can lift the many barriers delaying Just Transition pathways.
Ahead of COP30, this event will explore what meaningful actions can be agreed at COP30 under the Just Transition Work Programme, notably the idea of the Belem Action Mechanism for a Global Just Transition (BAM).
