Lynne Stanley has participated in the Stanley Center for Peace and Security’s governance since 1989 and serves currently as Chair of the Board of Directors. She earned dual degrees in business management and psychology at the University of Utah and a Juris Doctor degree at the University of Iowa, then practiced corporate law at a Minneapolis law firm for eight years, becoming a partner.
Lynne left the practice of law to focus on her children and a growing variety of volunteer commitments, including tutoring students, leading scout troops, and assisting non-profit organizations via committee and board service. The latter have given Lynne the opportunity to experience governance structures and procedures in religious, public school, social justice, and arts contexts. Prior to her education and relocating to the Minneapolis area, Lynne grew up in the center’s hometown of Muscatine. She is the granddaughter of the center’s late founders Max and Betty Stanley.
