Chloe Angyal is the associate program officer for journalism and media at the Stanley Center for Peace and Security, where she works on the center’s programming for journalists and other media professionals reporting on climate change, nuclear weapons, and mass violence and atrocities. Angyal came to the Stanley Center after 15 years as a journalist, with bylines about gender, politics, and culture in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and many other publications. She was a front-page editor and an opinion editor at HuffPost as well as a daily news and newsletter editor at VICE News. Angyal is the author of three books about classical ballet, which grew out of her reporting on the topic.
As a facilitator for The OpEd Project, she led trainings and developed curricula that empowered subject matter experts and underrepresented voices to write op-eds and pitch their knowledge to the media. Angyal has a PhD in Media Studies from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, where she grew up. She also has a BA in sociology from Princeton University.
