Mediterranean Alliance of Think Tanks on Climate Change: Delivering Mediterranean Climate Action for COP31 and Beyond
Invitation Only
As COP31 approaches under a Mediterranean co-presidency, 2026 represents a critical window to anchor global climate objectives in regional delivery. The Mediterranean region, standing at the intersection of climate vulnerability, energy transition opportunity, and geopolitical tension, is uniquely positioned to demonstrate how strengthened regional cooperation can advance mitigation, adaptation, and finance in mutually reinforcing ways across North and South.
Discussion addresses:
- Accelerating the energy transition, including regionally grounded decarbonization pathways, renewable energy deployment, electricity system integration, and industrial transformation;
- Strengthening adaptation and resilience, including identifying priority areas where enhanced regional cooperation can support credible and scalable responses to escalating climate risks;
- Mobilizing financial and institutional frameworks, with a view to addressing structural barriers to implementation and clarifying how regional cooperation can support delivery; and
- Ensuring stronger alignment across Northern and Southern Mediterranean perspectives.
