Veyda Matos is the sustainable development intern at the Stanley Center for Peace and Security and a native of the center’s hometown of Muscatine, Iowa. In her role, Matos supports the rigorous reporting requirements of the Living Building Challenge and furthers community awareness of this program that makes the Stanley Center’s home one of the most environmentally friendly and ecologically sustainable in the world. In addition, she helps coordinate Global Education programming for area youth and educators, writes articles and stories for the communications team, and assists policy programming efforts, representing issues of sustainability. Matos has a BS in environmental science from Iowa State University and is currently pursuing an MS in sustainable development from the University of Iowa.
