Deb Hughes is the human resource generalist at the Stanley Center for Peace and Security, where she contributes to the center’s mission through recruiting, staff development, and staff retention initiatives. Hughes also supports the leadership team’s efforts around workplace culture, ensuring that the Stanley Center provides all staff with a flexible, supportive, diverse, inclusive, and positive working environment. Before joining the Stanley Center, Hughes worked in human resources management at organizations including the University of Iowa, the accounting and consulting firm RSM, and the furniture manufacturing company HNI. Hughes has an MBA from St. Ambrose University and a BA in psychology from the University of Iowa. She also has earned several certifications, including senior professional in human resources from the Human Resources Certification Institute, certified employee benefit specialist from the International Foundation of Employee Benefits, and senior certified professional from the Society for Human Resources Management.
