Together for Higher Ambition: How Domestic Alliances of Subnational Actors Are Championing Decarbonization Around the World

Registration Encouraged

Local and regional governments, academia, the private sector, and civil society play an important role in accelerating climate action and championing higher ambition. The Alliances for Climate Action (ACA)—a global network of domestic multi-sector coalitions committed to supporting the delivery and enhancement of their countries’ climate goals—features in a public event at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP25) in Madrid, Spain. Representatives from alliances in Argentina, Japan, Mexico, Vietnam, South Africa, and the United States are discussing opportunities for higher ambition in their specific countries and how the growing domestic coalitions are accelerating decarbonization from the ground up. The ACAs are pleased to welcome special remarks from COP25 High Level Champion Gonzalo Muñoz Abogabir, and a closing conversation with Jonathan Pershing from Hewlett Foundation and Manuel Pulgar-Vidal from WWF International. The event is hosted by the Stanley Center, WWF, and ACA global partners at the US Climate Action Center (organized by We Are Still In, the US member of ACA) on Monday, December 9, from 10:00–11:30 a.m. Participation is open to registered observers and parties at COP25, though registration is encouraged and any additional seating will be first-come-first-served.
