The Responsibility to Protect at Ten: Perspectives and Opportunities

As a follow-up to the General Assembly interactive dialogue, Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES), the International Coalition for the Responsibility to Protect (ICRtoP), and the Stanley Center will co-host an event entitled “The Responsibility to Protect at Ten: Perspectives and Opportunities.”
This event will feature civil society and UN representatives speaking on the various themes and sectors that they view as priorities for implementing the Responsibility to Protect over the next decade. Speakers include: Dr. Alex Bellamy, Executive Director of the Asia-Pacific Centre for the Responsibility to Protect, who will discuss the links between counter-terrorism and RtoP; Ms. Alexandra Hiniker, UN Representative at PAX, who will present on disarmament and RtoP; and Ms. Louise Allen, Executive Coordinator of the NGO Working Group on Women, Peace, and Security, who will speak on women’s rights, participation, and empowerment in advancing RtoP.
