The Nonstate Role in Multilateral Cooperation
Invitation Only
This daylong, interactive workshop is cosponsored by the Center for Technology and National Security Policy at the National Defense University, the World Future Society, and the Stanley Center. The workshop will advance the ability of invited participant decision makers, policy planners, and strategists to explore the role of nonstate actors in global governance institutions and plan effectively for their participation.
Nonstate actors—from NGOs to private corporations to citizen groups and wealthy individuals—have been growing in international affairs influence for over a generation. Yet despite wide recognition of this general fact, there is a dearth of understanding about the effect of this influence on global governance, and on states and nonstate actors themselves.
