Global Action Against Mass Atrocity Crimes Launch
Invitation Only
The Stanley Center, in collaboration with the governments of Switzerland, Costa Rica, Tanzania, Denmark, and Argentina, will launch the Global Action Against Mass Atrocity Crimes (GAAMAC) from March 4 to 6, 2014, in Costa Rica. The GAAMAC is the result of an understanding among the governments that prevention of mass atrocity crimes through structural improvements and protection of civilian populations utilizing the Responsibility to Protect should represent an opportunity for focal points from both sides to bridge the gaps between them.
The GAAMAC participants will include nationally appointed focal points from about 50 countries. The goal of the GAAMAC is to create a robust community of practice where focal points can share information and best practices about the protection of civilians and prevention of mass atrocities.
