Galvanizing the Groundswell Networking Event
This networking event scheduled for June 5, 2015, is part of a larger program of activities at and around the Bonn Climate Change Conference. These activities will help build bridges within a broad citizens’ movement and with governments to generate opportunities for partnerships, to inspire commitments, and to create synergies between complementary initiatives.
It will bring together participants from three related events; namely the Climate Action Fair (including climate action dialogues), the Technical Expertise Meetings (TEMs) organized by the UNFCCC secretariat, and the workshop on “Catalyzing Climate Action for Resilient Development” organized by the German Development Institute /Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) in collaboration with the Galvanizing the Groundswell of Climate Actions Project (GGCA) and The Energy Research Institute (TERI).
The organizers share a commitment to galvanize a broad and diverse citizens’ movement which includes cities, companies, civil society groups, researchers, and individuals, for transformative climate actions toward a low-carbon and climate resilient future to include:
- Demonstrate solutions and explore opportunities to raise pre-2020 ambitions by governments, international organizations, and partners (TEMs).
- Provide a venue for interactive discussions of climate solutions (UNFCCC Climate Actions Fair).
- Explore the potential contributions of nonstate and subnational actions to resilient development, especially in developing countries (DIE/GGCA/TERI).
