Civil Society Perspectives – Building State Capacity to Prevent Atrocity Crimes: A View From Africa
Invitation Only
The Stanley Center, the Pan African Lawyers Union, and the International Coalition for the Responsibility to Protect (ICR2P) will convene civil society voices on RtoP in Africa.
This event will be held prior to the upcoming African Union Summit in January 2014 to reflect on the implementation of both Article 4(h) of the Constitution of the African Union and RtoP on the Continent in the protection of civilians from genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and ethnic cleansing. We will convene civil society organizations working with AU Member States and those working at the Pan African level, to share information and experiences on how they are engaging the African governments and intergovernmental organizations on issues of RtoP and mass atrocity prevention generally.
